Shoot Great Photos
Great product photos don’t just show your product—they sell it. On Etsy or any marketplace, photos are the first thing people see. Crisp, well-lit images can make the difference between a scroll-past and a sale.
Option 1: Do It Yourself
Your smartphone is more than enough if you follow a few basics:
- Lighting: Use natural light near a window, or set up soft diffused light. Avoid harsh shadows.
- Background: Keep it clean and simple—white, neutral, or lightly styled. Don’t clutter the frame.
- Angles: Shoot at least 3–5 angles (front, side, detail, in use).
- Editing: Use built-in apps (Apple Photos, Google Photos) to adjust brightness, contrast, and crop. Keep colors true to life.
Option 2: Light Retouching
If your shots are good but need a polish, hire quick retouching on Fiverr or Upwork for under $50. Small tweaks (removing dust, balancing color) can make a big difference.
Option 3: Professional Photography
If you want polished lifestyle shots or perfectly staged images, consider product photo services like Pixelz, Soona, or local photographers. Costs vary, but you’ll get magazine-quality results that set your brand apart.
Option 4: Use Supplier Photos
Sometimes suppliers provide decent photos. If they’re clean, high-resolution, and match your brand’s vibe, you can start with them. Just be cautious—many supplier photos are generic or AI-generated (as we saw in sourcing), so make sure they actually reflect your product.
Pick your path: DIY photoshoot, quick Fiverr retouch, or professional service. Aim to have at least 5–7 photos per product listing: a hero shot, multiple angles, one in-use or lifestyle shot, and a close-up detail.
