Define Your Identity
Every strong brand begins with a clear identity. This is the “why” that shapes everything else—from your logo and fonts to your packaging and tone of voice. Without it, design decisions feel random. With it, everything clicks into place.
Your identity has two layers:
- Brand Story: What’s the narrative you want people to connect with? Maybe it’s about heritage craft, sustainability, or daily rituals.
- Brand Ethos: What values guide you? Quality over shortcuts? Transparency? Playfulness? Serious craftsmanship?
Your voice flows naturally from these choices. A brand rooted in craft might speak with care and authority. A brand built on fun might use a light, witty tone. Either way, your story + ethos + voice form the backbone of the entire system you’re about to build. That system will extend across your messaging, your website, your packaging—everywhere your customer interacts with you.
Write a short identity statement in three parts: Our story is… Our ethos is… Our voice is… Keep it simple, one sentence each. This becomes the blueprint for every design choice ahead.
